Thirty youngsters compete at Junior Singles Open

Thirty rising tennis stars took to the courts for the Junior Singles Open on Sunday at Medicine Hat Tennis Club.

Codie Uitvlugt won the event’s teen division by defeating Mak Howes in a 6-1 battle, while Eicken Knauer took the 12-and-under title with a 7-6 nailbiter over Mike Fentabil.

Keaton Eldurkin defeated Maryn Paulgaard 4-0 to win the 10-and-under championship and Thomas Fentabil picked up a 4-1 win over Hanna Streifel to win the eight-and-under title.

The Medicine Hat Tennis Club will host the Barrie Shave Tennis Classic doubles tournament June 13-16.
