For younger age group swimmers, Summer Festival was a big deal this past weekend.
Girls 10 and under and boys 11 and under were at the University of Lethbridge for what amounted to provincials in their respective age divisions.
So when the Medicine Hat Waves claimed not one, but two relay gold medals, it was smiles all around.
The mixed team of Sarah Kradovill, Cambria Henderson-Muryn, Kage Senft and William Miller – all 10 years old – won both the freestyle and medley relays.
Individually, Senft was the only one to add some extra hardware to the haul, placing third in boys 50 metre butterfly, 100 metre freestyle and 100 metre individual medley. Kradovill’s top finish was sixth in girls 100 IM, while Henderson-Muryn was seventh in girls 100 breaststroke. Miller had an eight-place finish in boys 100 backstroke. Combined, they set 27 new personal bests among their events.
Three Alberta Marlin Aquatic Club members were at the meet, with Rowynn Biffart taking bronze in the girls 100 breast. Morgan Hobson’s top placing was 16th in girls 100 fly while Diesel Grettum had a seventh-place finish in boys 100 breast.

Cambria Henderson-Muryn (10) – 100 breast, seventh; 100 back, 17th; 100 free, 19th; 100 IM, 27th; 50 free, 36th; 50 back, 42nd.
Boys 11-under
Kage Senft (10) – 50 fly, third; 100 free, third; 100 IM, third; 50 free, 16th; 50 back, 16th.
William Miller (10) – 100 back, eighth; 50 fly, 12th; 100 IM, 15th; 100 free, 17th; 50 back, 52nd; 50 free, 72nd.
