The bantam Sun Devils lacrosse team celebrates their bronze medal finish in Lethbridge Sunday, May 26, 2019.

It was a successful weekend of lacrosse, but one that left room for improvement for the Sun Devils bantams.

At Lethbridge for a tournament, the Gas City’s Bantam 2 team finished with a 3-1 record to earn third spot.

They beat the Calgary Axemen 5-3 Sunday in the third-place matchup. Houston Eakins and Brennin Wereley each had two goals, while Zack Kienzle added the other.

That followed a narrow 9-6 loss to the host Barracudas in which Wereley had a pair but nobody else had more than one goal for the Devils.

Earlier in the weekend, Medicine Hat beat the Calgary Hornets 9-4, getting two-goal games from Wereley and Jayden Richards. They also blew out Didsbury 15-1, led by four goals from Eakins and pairs from Richards and Wereley.
