Hat products score but South loses

By Medicine Hat News on May 22, 2019.

A pair of Medicine Hat players accounted for all but two of their team’s points in the 30th Senior Bowl Monday, but it wasn’t enough as the North beat the South 23-14.

At Hellard Field in Calgary, Crescent Heights’ Kaden Wagner ran 80 yards for a touchdown to open the scoring in front of 1,246 fans.

A fourth-quarter touchdown reception from Hat High’s Lachlan Hardiker (from Calgary quarterback K.J. Stembridge) was the South’s only other major on the day. In between, it was all North.

A half-dozen Hat products played in the game. Mohawks linebackers Tanner Winter and Justin Maser, defensive lineman Josh Howe and offensive lineman Connor Taylor were the others.

The game’s MVP was Bonnyville quarterback Silas Fagnan.

Another half-dozen Hatters competed in the Junior Bowl earlier in the day. The under-16 game saw the South win 14-13.
