Hat High track and field athletes continued their season in Calgary Wednesday with the second of three Dino High School Challenge meets at Foothills Athletic Park. Aimee Maurice was one of two gold medallists on the day for the Mohawks, winning the intermediate girls pole vault with a clearance of 2.50 metres. Teammate Larkin Kohlman cleared 2.20 metres to take third in the division, while Tyra Moch cleared 2.00 metres to take third in the junior division. Hailee Parker also had a first-place finish, throwing the javelin 34.97 metres to win the intermediate girls group. Janelle Stegen was sixth, while Jaylaina Callan was sixth in junior. Hat High’s strong group of boys sprinters continued their strong showings. Lukas Herter, Orin May and Zachary Campbell were second, third and fourth, respectively in the intermediate boys 200 metre dash. Spackman and May were second and third in 100 metre hurdles. Spackman then took second in long jump, the same spot as senior division teammate Jayden Smith. Hat High took part in the first Dinos meet last week. The third and final one takes place today. Medicine Hat’s city meet is May 22, followed by zones in Lethbridge and provincials in Calgary. 7
