Crescent Heights’ Vikings got off to a massive start and didn’t let up Monday in a 21-2 win at Erle Rivers in high school baseball action. The Vikings scored nine runs before starter Dylan Fauth had even thrown a pitch, then put up seven and five in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively, to ensure the mercy rule was applied. Fauth struck out eight Comets batters and didn’t walk anyone according to online scoring. He also led off and went 3-for-5 at the plate, scoring three runs. Zack Miller-Shackleton was a home run shy of the cycle, going 3-for-4 with four runs scored. Even nine-hole batter Jared Darley had a big game, going 3-for-3 with three runs and 3 RBI. In other high school action, Hat High’s two teams were in action as well. The senior Mohawks beat Chinook 4-3 and 10-1 while the Tier 2 side lost 7-3 to Maple Creek. Felix Miller hit a game-winning double in the bottom of the fifth of a shortened game in order to make time for the twin bill. In the second game it was all Hat High, Miller and Hayden Hall each going 2-for-2 with two runs and 2 RBI. Austin Moch worked a scoreless fifth to earn the win in the opener, while Ashtyn Street pitched the first two innings for the win in the second. As for the Tier 2 team, a five-run third inning was the difference for Maple Creek in a seven-inning affair. Dylan Lefler went 2-for-2 in a losing cause but was also the losing pitcher. 9
