Medicine Hat’s Special Olympics crew was in Lethbridge last weekend for a tournament, and to no surprise they were all smiles.
The 17 bowlers combined for seven first-place finishes, three seconds and five thirds on their respective lanes, then won eight medals for their pins over average results at the banquet that followed.
Christine Sullivan, fresh off her powerlifting podium finishes at the World Games in Dubai, won gold along with Blair Yuhas. Nathan Maurer got a silver, while Brydon Marchand, Kalee Masson, Terri Didack, Sin Jin Soper and Liam Carter took bronze.
Four coaches helped out the trip, which got better when former teammates Nick Olson and Brady Shaurer – now from Lethbridge – showed up.
Lane winners were Didack, Yuhas, Maurer, Sullivan, Marchand, Linda D. McDonald and Linda M. McDonald. Carter, Masson and Soper were runner-ups while Tyler Scott, Todd Reynar, Elaine McDonald, Rylan Kersey and Brielle Granger were third on their lanes.
