An action-packed month of curling kicked off this weekend at Medicine Hat Curling Club with the annual Men’s Bonspiel.
Nearly 40 teams will be out on the sheets for the event, which closes out with the championship round on Sunday at 2 p.m., but that’s only the beginning of a non-stop March to come.
Alberta’s best young curlers will descend on the Gas City for the Curling Alberta Optimist U18 Provincial Championships March 14-17, followed by the Ladies Bonspiel March 22-24 and then the Oilmen’s Bonspiel March 29-31.
The under-18 provincial championships will bring in the top eight boys and girls teams from across Alberta to compete for both a championship and the title of Team Alberta at the Canadian championships in April.
The Men’s Bonspiel continues Saturday with draws from 11 a.m. through 8 p.m. and winds down Sunday with semifinal action at 11 a.m. and the championship draw at 2 p.m.
