Medicine Hat News Hat High went three for four on a big day of league basketball action on their home court Saturday. The Mohawks and Kwahommies hosted Magrath’s Zeniths and Pandas in both junior and varsity action, with the home team prevailing in all but the varsity girls matchup. The senior boys improved to 7-0 with a 96-48 doubling of the Zeniths. Despite Eidan Jonker unavailable to play, Ethan Egert led both teams with 24 points and both Bailey Gosse and Aiden Gripp had 16 for the Mohawks. Mason Stock had 13 as Magrath fell to 1-8. Magrath’s Pandas are also 7-0, after a 76-61 win over the Kwahommies. Montana Berezay had 22 for the fourth-ranked team in the province, Lauren Payne had 21 and the Pandas built on a narrow five-point halftime lead. Jordyn Knight had 15 and Kyler Varga 14 in a losing cause. Hat High is now 4-5. In the earlier junior games, the Kwahommies escaped with a 53-50 win. Hannah Salmon had 16 points. The junior Mohawks won 81-70, getting double-digit scoring from a remarkable six players to overcome an eight-point halftime deficit. Gabrial Baldovinos and Emad Ibrahim each had 12. 7
