As it continues to grow, the Medicine Hat Minor Softball Association decided to give some pats on the back recently in the form of awards handed out to a number of deserving individuals.

“We had a great response, plenty of nominations and of course some well deservedwinners,” said association president Michelle Campbell in a press release. “MHMSA felt it was truly time to recognize individuals who impact our association positively.”

Players, coaches and even umpire of the year were announced.

At the top end, the under-16 Thunder declared a tie for player of the year between pitcher Mia Kelly and Abbi Ulmer.

High school player of the year went to Hanna Heidel, while Michelle Robinson and Paige Schlenker split the high school coach of the year.

Marcus Campbell was named coach of the year for all of the age groups under-12 and below. The player of the year in that wide age group was Avery Weisgerber.

Umpire of the year was Zachary Campbell.
