The Medicine Hat Curling Club hosted a bonspiel this past weekend, with the winner doing the event sponsor proud.

Trevor Funk skipped the Western Foundations team to a win at the Western Foundations Open Cash Spiel Sunday, shaking hands with Sandy Bell’s rink up 6-2 after seven ends.

Eight teams took part in the event, which began Friday.

John Stroh’s foursome needed an extra end to beat the Sabre Security team for third place Sunday.

In the B event final, Vicki Sjolie skipped her hometown team to a 7-1 win over Calgary’s Ken Bowler. And in the B third-place matchup, Jessica Koch’s team wound up with a 4-2 win over C and K Hyrdovac’s team skipped by Troy Risling.
