Gas City CrossFit athletes pushed themselves to the limit in Lethbridge Saturday, coming home with some impressive finishes at the Clang and Bang competition.

Hosted by CrossFit FrameWork, the one-day event drew 18 men’s and 16 women’s teams. Competing in either scaled or prescribed workouts, the Medicine Hat crew had at least one team finish on the podium in each division.

Kaine Dick and Garreth McPherson won the prescribed men’s division, topping the charts in all but one of their six events.

In women’s prescribed, Melissa Kallis and Miranda Nelson tied for second.

As for the scaled divisions, three Gas City teams made the top three. In women’s scaled, Nallie Freisen and Kalista Pisoni were second, then Sheri Wild and Dani Bruce were tied for third. Each had an event win which put them near the top of the leaderboard all day long.

In men’s scaled, the team of Charlie Bruce and Tyler Garrecht wound up a narrow second. They led the competition going into the final event, winning four of six possible events when it was all said and done.

A total of nine Gas City teams took part.

Up next for the CrossFit group is a mind-boggling charity event next week. Bruce will attempt to complete 30 workout events in 24 hours, representing the number of months his family has been in Canada from the United Kingdom. It’s the second such event he’s done, and the goal is to inspire fellow athletes and members of the public to drop by and donate a toy to the Santa Claus Fund.

He’ll start the marathon at 10 a.m. Dec. 13.
