Rattlers women’s volleyball team stays above .500

The Medicine Hat Rattlers women’s volleyball team managed to stay above .500 entering the holiday break with a four-set victory over the SAIT Trojans (25-23, 25-17, 24-26, 25-20) on Saturday in Calgary.

Brooke Christie powered the Rattler attack with 10 kills while Janelle Neyron added eight kills with a team-high 17 digs and Janessa Oelke set up 28.

SAIT’s Jadyn Leong finished with a match-high 18 kills while Amy Chailler dug out 18 and Elly Prince set up 36, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Trojans in the win column.

Medicine Hat improved to 7-5 with the win and SAIT slipped to 8-4.

Men’s Volleyball

Medicine Hat’s men’s volleyball squad was a dealt a three-set sweep by the Trojans on Saturday at SAIT (27-25, 25-20, 26-24).

Alfred Dalevik led the way with 11 kills in the loss, Nikola Sreckovic logged 26 assists and Austin Ducharme logged nine digs.

Jarrett Noel had a match-high 16 kills to lead SAIT to their fifth straight victory while handing the Rattlers their third consecutive setback.

The loss leaves Medicine Hat at 6-6 entering the holiday break. SAIT improved to 8-4.

The Rattlers volleyball teams return to the court Jan. 4 at Briercrest College.
