The already-short college golf season got even shorter this past weekend.

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference tweeted Friday morning that “due to a blanket of snow covering @MillwoodsGolf in Edmonton,” the South Regional tournament there was being cancelled.

It was to be the northern-most setting for the south event ever, while courses in Lethbridge and Medicine Hat remained cold but still playable.

The cancellation leaves college golfers in Alberta with a grand total of two tournaments to speak for their season. The North Regional took place in Lac La Biche Sept. 15 and 16, and the ACAC finals will take place this coming Saturday and Sunday at Alberta Springs Golf Course in Red Deer.

Medicine Hat is hosting nationals at Desert Blume Golf Club Oct. 14-19. The Rattlers women won the North Regional handily with Becky Martin tied atop the leaderboard and Sierra Zukowski and Nicole Schultz third and fourth respectively. The Rattlers men were seventh as a team at the North Regional, led by Derek Whitson’s 24th-place finish.
