Out-of-town teams dominated at the Medicine Hat Memorial Triples lawn bowling tournament this past weekend.

With the greens pronounced ready for play only a few days earlier, there was no hometown advantage and it showed in who advanced to Sunday’s finals.

In the A division it was the Highlands Edmonton team of Tony Spencer, Barbara Spencer and Monika Pachan winning against Lethbridge’s Al McGarty, Bob Edmiston and Ute Edmiston.

An all-Edmonton B final went the way of the Royal team (May Dalziel, Sue Davison and Francis Yo), with the Highlands squad (Richard Turner, Kathy Kerr and Mike Evans) second.

Medicine Hat’s Wes Bresee, Jeff Desjarlais and Pat Dennis got to the C final against Royal Edmonton (Marlen Shustov, Anne Hammond and Margaret McDonald) but the capital city crew got the win.

An all-Gas City D final saw the team of Jim Clegg, Mary Clegg and Bill Cuthill edge Inabelle Lutz, Lori Durdle and Anne Boutkan.

Local club secretary Curt Moll was given the Ben Osterman Award (skip who best exemplifies the qualities of a great skip).
