Monarchs stay hot with sweep of Butte Miners

The Medicine Hat Moose Monarchs rallied for back-to-back victories over the Butte Miners on the road Friday to push their American Legion Baseball AA record to 15-20-1 with two games left on the regular season docket.

After taking a 7-4 victory in the first game thanks in part to a four-run sixth inning, the Monarchs struck in bunches to close out the set with a comfortable 14-6 win.

Jack Suhai led Medicine Hat with 3 RBI in a 1-for-1 outing in the first game then Zach Stark kept the offence rolling with w staggering 6 RBIin a 3-for-4 outing.

Ethan Boutkan went the distance to collect the first victory after holding Butte to four runs on nine hits and two walks while fanning six batters.

Wyatt Bergen earned the victory in Game 2 afterentering in the third and holding the Miners to three runs on a hit and four walks over the next three innings.

The Monarchs close out the regular season with a road doubleheader Saturday against the Billings Scarlets.

Knights settle for split

The Medicine Hat K of C Knights settled for a split with the Great Falls Chargers on the road Friday.

After falling 13-2 in five innings, the Knights bounced back to return the favour with an 18-7 win in the same span.

Connor Drever and Carter Krauss both went 3-for-3 with 3 RBIin the victory, while Ayden Matycio held the Chargers to seven runs on 10 hits to secure the win.

The Knights close out the regular season with a doubleheader Saturday in Conrad, Mont. against the Tri County Cardinals.
