It was an up-and-down weekend for the Saamis Rotary Majors baseball team, which hosted its annual AAA tournament but had to settle for fifth place.

After losing 15-12 Friday to Calgary’s Bow Ridge, the Majors chalked up a solid 13-7 win over Calgary Fish Creek Saturday afternoon. They were up 10-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning against Rocky Mountain, but wound up losing 11-10 to relegate them to a consolation game Sunday.

Medicine Hat’s team turned the tables in the battle of third-place teams however. Tied 3-3 with Moose Jaw, they exploded for a five-run fifth inning capped by three straight run-scoring doubles from Jory Graves, Carson Christianson and Zach Herman.

Kayne Olinski got the win by throwing three innings of two-hit relief.

Lethbridge won the tournament final over Team Dinger from Calgary.
