Sarah Mickey is again a national track and field medallist.

The Redcliff para-athlete won silver in the seated shot put at the Canadian championships Wednesday, throwing farther than anybody in her division except that once her level of disability was factored in, she was just shy of top spot.

Ontario’s Pamela Lejean took first with a throw of 4.76 but a RAZA score of 914. It’s the RAZA that matters to the event results.

Mickey, from Redcliff, had a best throw of 6.66 metres on her last attempt, giving her a RAZA of 763.

Mickey is also entered in the para discus and javelin, both of which take place today.

Nationals are in Ottawa, where Mickey took bronze in shot put and silver in javelin a year ago.
