Mavericks’ game in Fort McMurray called off due to weather

The Medicine Hat Mavericks were forced to pack it up early in Fort McMurray.

After winning three straight road games against the Giants at Shell Place, the Mavericks approached Friday’s series finale eying the sweep, but inclement weather resulted in the cancellation of the contest.

The Mavericks — who hold a 2.5 game lead atop the Western Major BaseballLeague’s Western Division with a 13-3 record —will take a travel day Saturday before returning to the diamond at Athletic Park Sunday to host the Lethbridge Bulls in a Highway 3 rivalry game.

First pitch is slated for 2:05 p.m.
