Three-peat of sorts for Hat’s White in boccia

It was a hometown sweep on the podium and a repeat champion at the Alberta boccia championships this past weekend.

At the Medicine Hat Curling Club, Aiden White won the thrower division title for the third year in a row, though it wasn’t officially provincials in 2016.

White trailed fellow Hatter Pauline Mann 3-1 in the final end of the championship but made three clutch shots to win 4-3.

Another Hat player, Ted Schmauder, took third, beating teammate Myles Chandler 7-0 in the bronze medal matchup.

In the ramp division it was a sweep for Edmonton players. Cyla Schoneck won the final 4-3 in an extra end against Ryan Rondeau. Chandra Round took third.

Competitors from Medicine Hat, Edmonton and Calgary took part in the second annual event. Last year Calgary hosted.
