Three Hat High players finished their high school football careers on a winning note Monday in Edmonton.

The South beat the North 38-23 at Foote Field in the 29th annual Senior Bowl all-star game, marking the fourth year in a row the South has emerged victorious.

Mohawks defensive linemen Cody Lyons and Aiden Beattie plus defensive back Jaren Halladay were all on the winning side, as was assistant coach Brian Semenok.

With an announced 1,528 fans in attendance, LCI quarterback John Evans rushed for 181 yards and two touchdowns in leading the South. Conversely, North QB Jonathan Ericson of Lacombe threw for 278 yards, connecting with Bev Facey’s Jake Withrow on 142 of them and two of his three touchdown strikes. Both set yardage records at the Senior Bowl, while Evans’ rushing prowess was the second best all-time.

Catholic Central quarterback Kai Sampson snuck in two other touchdown plunges, while Payton Price of Foothills ran in the other.

After the all-time series was tied heading into 2014, the South now leads 16-12-1.
