Another of the Medicine Hat Tigers’ 2017 draft class has committed to playing with the team.

Delta, B.C. defenceman Ryan Watson has signed a WHL deal, the Tigers announced via press release Tuesday afternoon.

“We believe that Ryan has a promising future in the game and look forward to his successes as a member of the Medicine Hat Tigers,” head coach and general manager Shaun Clouston was quoted as saying in the release. “We would like to welcome Ryan and his family to the Tigers organization.”

The 5-foot-11, 160-pound 15-year-old who turns 16 this month was drafted in the third round, 65th overall last year by Medicine Hat. With Delat Hockey Academy in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League he had four goals and 15 assists in 32 games, plus a goal and six helpers in four playoff contests.

He was also part of Team B.C. at the WHL Cup tournament, putting up a goal and four assists in five games as B.C. won gold.

Watson is slated to attend the Tigers’ orientation camp June 1-3 at the Family Leisure Centre.
