When Maxx Suhai ripped a two-run double into left-centre field in the second inning of Wednesday’s high school baseball game at McCoy field, it felt like the Crescent Heights Vikings were well on their way to beating the Foremost Falcons.

They were, but the visitors made them work for the mercy rule win.

A 10-run fifth inning from the Falcons delayed the finish in a 24-14 Vikings win. Crescent Heights plated another four runs in their half of the fifth to get back to 10 ahead.

Suhai finished 3-for-4 with four runs and 4 RBI. He also threw four innings to get the win. Terek Hieb, Clarke Robinson and Zack Miller-Shackleton each drove in three runs for Crescent Heights.

Eric Huisman was 2-for-2 with 5 RBI in a losing cause. The teams combined to make 15 errors.
