Team Alberta —including Medicine Hat’s Sandy Bell — is out of the hunt at the midway point of the Canadian Senior Curling Championships.

At Stratford, Ont., the Alberta side skipped by Calgary’s Terri Loblaw and including lead Cheryl Hall, Bell at second and Judy Pendergast at third is 2-4 after dropping a pair of close games Monday.

They fell 6-5 to Nova Scotia, then 5-4 to Saskatchewan and are now in the seeding pool with three games left on their schedule. Nova Scotia’s Mary Mattatall went 6-0 in the round robin and is one of eight teams that qualified for the championship pool.

Alberta will still fight for seeding in next year’s event but otherwise they’re now just playing for fun.
