Cheerleading teams fare well at meets in Regina, Calgary

Another event, another round of awards for Medicine Hat’s cheerleading teams.

The Ultimate Cheer Fusion girls were in Regina this past weekend for the Best of the West Cheer and Dance Championships, while the Stingerz went ot Calgary for the Stampede City Showdown.

Fusion earned two overall division awards as the top-scoring team regardless of level in their age division. The Glimmer five- and six-year-old kids won their overall division along with a third straight first-place award. The Glow team was also an overall champion in addition to winning at their level.

Other notable achievements included the 10- to 18-year-old Ignite team placing second out of five teams in their division, the Sparkle (youngest) team winning their novice group and the Nitro youth squad placing third.

At Calgary, Stingerz had a first-place award to both their senior Ivy Beez and open Killer Beez teams, second-place awards to botht heir Honey Beez and Queen Beez, a third-place result for their Royal Beez and a fifth-place showing for their Bumble Beez. They also had several individual medallists.

Both local clubs are sending teams to Edmonton next month to round out their respective seasons at the All-Star Cheer Extravaganza.
