Indoor track and field athletes from the Medicine Hat region are climbing their way into national rankings.

This past weekend in Edmonton at the Alberta Indoor Games, four Hatters found themselves in the top 20 in Canada in a under-20 women’s relay sprint. Another is No. 1.

Elic Ayomanor’s triple jump of 11.75 metres puts him first in his midget age group in Canada.

Ayomanor also won the 300 metre dash in 37.87 seconds, won the long jump with a 5.65-metre leap and placed third in 60 metre dash. The 300 time puts him third in the country.

Renae Ryan, Kiana Farrell, Madison Kane-Rissling and Jane Canadine passed the baton in the under-20 women’s 4×200 metre relay, crossing the line in 1:53.80 — fourth on the day but also in the top 20 in Canada so far this season.

Kane-Rissling added a first-place high jump of 1.49 metres and a winning long jump (4.92 metres) and triple jump (10.32 metres) to the relay success.

Ryan was fourth in the 60 metre dash and ninth in the 300, plus tied for second behind Kane-Rissling in high jump. Canadine was fifth in the 300 and 600, Farrell was 10th in her 300 and ninth in long jump.
