Four remain at Ralph’s Open

The semifinals are set at the Ralph’s Texas Bar Open professional squash tournament at the Medicine Hat YMCA.

Top seed Youseff Soliman needed all five games to dispatch Baptiste Masotti 3-2 (11-3, 9-11, 11-8, 10-12, 11-5), preventing an all-French matchup after Victor Crouin upset Mexico’s Alfredo Avila 3-1 (11-4, 13-11, 9-11, 11-9).

In the other quarter-final matches, the all-Canadian pairing of Andrew Schnell and Shawn Delierre went Schnell’s way in a quick 3-0 (11-1, 11-9, 11-3) victory. Schnell, a regular at the Medicine Hat PSA event but never before a semifinalist, will square off with England’s George Parker, who beat Juan Camilo Vargas of Columbia 3-0 (11-9, 11-9, 11-5).

Matches Saturday begin at 2 p.m. Winners play in Sunday’s 2 p.m. final, with $10,000 in prize money up for grabs all told.
