Devo pads lead atop senior men’s soccer league

Devo FC has assumed control of the Medicine Hat Senior Men’s Indoor Soccer League.

Devo cruised to a 5-1 win over the PBR Rangers on Sunday at the Family Leisure Centre and a 13-3 blowout over the Rattlers Under-17 White squad Tuesday to improve to 11-0-1 on the year and stretch their new lead in the standings to seven points over the Earls Phantoms.

Albert Brown scored twice for Devo in the win while Jared Ursulan, Stephen Copeland, and Lane Palichik added individual markers. Forkpa Sumo scored the lone goal for PBR.

Brown added a hat trick in Tuesday’s landslide win, while Ethan Hudec added three more, Palichuk, Jordan Leismeister and Allan Siwela scored twice and Austin Porice rounded out the scoring.

Earls kept on Devo’s heels with a 7-1 win over the Wild on Sunday. Martyn O’Donnell and Chris Sawicki scored twice for the Phantoms (9-4-0) in the win, while Ashley Evans, Cory Holton and Matt Wilson all scored once to round out the scoring. Kyle Mealy scored the only goal for the Wild.

The struggles continued for the Wild Tuesday when they ran into a 6-2 loss at the hands of the Rattlers Under-18 Black sqaud. Jack Coen and Adam Khan both scored twice for the Rattlers with Kyle Geisbrecht and Dan Haskayne rounding out the scoring, pushing them to 6-4-1. Vladimir Khazov and Chris Kean scored in the loss, leaving the Wild at 2-8-2 on the year.

Devo will look to add to its lead in the standings Sunday at the Family Leisure Centre against the Wild at 9 p.m. The Rattlers Under-17 and Under-18 squads will meet up Sunday at 7 p.m., followed by the Ralston Rovers (7-4-0) and the Earls Phantoms at 8 p.m.
