The Western Hockey League has suspended Moose Jaw Warriors winger Barrett Sheen for his check to the head of Medicine Hat Tigers defenceman Joel Craven during Saturday’s Western Hockey League game at the Canalta Centre.

The incident took place in the second period when Sheen delivered an elbow to Craven’s head in the Tigers end with a delayed penalty to a different Warriors player already incoming.

Craven, a 17-year-old Whitefish, Mont. product, left the game and did not return. He also did not join the team on their B.C. Division road trip and is listed as week-to-week with an upper body injury.

Craven has one goal and six assists in 30 games on Medicine Hat’s back end this year.

While Sheen is not a repeat offender, the Airdrie product leads the WHL in penalty minutes with 123 this season. Sheen also has four goals and 13 assists in 49 games with Moose Jaw.

Tigers forward Tyler Preziuso is also recovering from an upper body injury after taking a puck to the head in Friday’s 4-3 overtime loss to the Kelowna Rockets at the Canalta Centre.

Preziuso has missed two games and will not play tonight in Kamloops against the Blazers, but he did travel to B.C. with the team and could play this weekend when the Tigers close out their road trip against the Victoria Royals Friday and the Vancouver Giants Saturday.

Preziuso has 11 goals and 11 assists in 49 games this year.

Tigers forward Hayden Ostir is listed as out four to six weeks with an upper body injury, while defenceman Linus Nassen is scheduled to return from a broken arm in the next two to three weeks.
