It may have been the first ever competition for half of Ultimate Cheer Fusion’s young athletes, but that didn’t stop them from hitting the podium multiple times at the Imagine Cheer and Dance Championship in Lethbridge this weekend.

Team Sparkle, UCF’s tiny novice squad took top spot in their four-year-old division, while the Nitro youth squad earned second place after jumping into a more challenging division than last season and the Glimmer tiny team took third despite making some major changes to their routine.

One of Glimmer’s athletes was unable to compete at the event, forcing the squad to considerably juggle their routine just four days prior to the event, but they still worked their way to a bronze medal finish.

But they weren’t the only UCF squads making their mark in Lethbridge, as the club’s two other teams finished in the top six, and four athletes competing as individuals all finished atop the podium. The senior Ignite squad managed a fourth-place finish despite having to entirely alter their routine the evening before the performance, while the mini Glow team finished sixth.

Keilee Raby took top spot in the junior Level 3 division, Olivia Kiiskila won second in the youth Level 3, Georgia Potter took second in the mini Level 2 and Keira Droeske finished third in the youth Level 2.

UCF will continue their cheerleading season on Feb. 24 in Red Deer.
