The first part of the waiting game could reach and end today for Medicine Hat Tigers forward MasonShaw.

The 19-year-old playmaker suffered a right knee injury during a Traverse City Prospects Tournament game with the Minnesota Wild on Saturday and has been awaiting a timetable for his return to action ever since.

Shaw — who has been on crutches since suffering the injury for precautionary reasons — completed an MRIin Minnesota on Wednesday and says he is likely to receive the results when he reports to the team today.

“The first part is just being patient and getting the information. Once we get the information we’ll kind of assess things and go from there,” said Tigers head coach and general manager Shaun Clouston. “We’re hoping for the best but we know he’s injured and we know he’s going to be out for a while. We’re just waiting on feedback on the length of time and then we’ll do our best to move forward.”

The injury occurred when a player from the Columbus Blue Jackets fell awkwardly onto Shaw’s leg.

Shaw posted 27 goals and 67 assists in 71 games with Medicine Hat last season.
