Mick Kohler has officially signed on with the Medicine Hat Tigers

The 19-year-old German forward made his debut in orange and black in Friday’s 4-2 pre-season victory over the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

The Tigers picked up Kohler with the 59th overall pick in June’s CHL import draft after an impressive season with Kolner EC of the Deutsche Nachwuchs Liga. The Bonn, Ger. product came juts shy of two-points per game with 61 over 31 contests before getting called up to the DEL2 —Germany’s second-highest level of hockey — for a 20-game stint.

Kohler has also spent time with Germany’s national under-18 junior program, where he recorded an assist over five games in the 2015-16 season.

The Tigers also signed 16-year-old goaltender Kaeden Lane prior to Friday’s exhibition game in Lethbridge, a 5-foot-9 Burnaby Winter Club product with a strong resume out of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League’s Elite 15s.

Lane closed out his season between the pipes for Burnaby with a .922 save percentage and a 2.30 goals against average and an 8-3-1 record. Lane went on to record a .935 save percentage and a 2.00 goals against average through three post-season games.

Tigers head coach and general manager Shaun Clouston says he expects to see Lane have a big impact with the club in the future.

TheTigers continue their pre-season campaign with a rematch against the Hurricanes on Saturday at the Taber Civic Centre at 7:30 p.m. before heading to Moose Jaw to take on the Warriors on Sept. 9. The Tigers will open the regular season on Sept. 22 in Lethbridge against the Hurricanes before both teams head to the Canalta Centre for Medicine Hat’s home opener on Sept. 23.
