Bulldogs shine at Alberta track championships

Lewis Benoy led the Medicine Hat Bulldogs through a stellar two days at the Athletics Alberta Track and Field Championships in Sherwood Park last weekend.

Benoy collected gold medals in all of three of his youth boys events, besting the pack in long jump, high jump and triple jump as one of nine Bulldogs to reach the podium out of 12 competing at the meet.

Elic Ayomanor followed up with three medals of his own, taking silver in both the midget boys 200-metre and triple jump and added a bronze in the long jump.

Madison Kane-Rissling, Morgan Hale and Renae Ryan all took home some hardware in the youth girls division. Hale earned a pair of silver medals on the track, finishing second in both the 800-metre and the 1,500-metre, Kane-Rissling added a silver in high jump and bronze in triple jump and Ryan rounded out the pack with a bronze medal in the 100-metre dash.

Ayla Wijkord took bronze in the midget girls 2,000-metre and Gage Reinhart finished third in the youth boys 400-metre hurdles. Denise Reinhart tacked on with a gold medal in the masters women 100-metre dash, while Shane Ryan added a bronze in the masters men 100-metre.
