Older Majestics top junior Thunder in exhibition

In the search for extra competition ahead of junior Little League nationals, the Medicine Hat Thunder turned to a team that’s a bit older than them.

Turns out, the Majestics were more than a good match.

The American Legion B team applied the mercy rule to the Thunder Tuesday, a 13-1 win that was over after five innings.

Majestics pitchers Kayden Berndt and Kaitlyn Ross combined to limit the AAA’s to four hits, their defence not committing an error and Tanner Angstadt going 4-for-4 in the win.

Silas Blair took the loss, but the Thunder aren’t too concerned given that Majestics players are typically a couple years older — not at all like what they’ll see in Lethbridge for nationals.

The teams will rematch Thursday.
