With a week until they host nationals, Medicine Hat’s major AAA Little League baseball team tuned up with a tournament in Great Falls, Mont.

Medicine Hat went 3-2, ending their run with a 7-6 quarter-final loss to a host team Sunday. Evan Morrison had a three-run home run and also pitched five innings.

Earlier games included a 3-2 loss to the TPA Tornados, a 12-1 to another host team and 11-0 and 10-0 mercy rule wins over Havre. The 10-0 win was highlighted by a four-inning perfect game thrown by Wyatt Bishop, who struck out 10 in facing the minimum 12 batters.

As the host team at nationals, Medicine Hat wasn’t allowed to enter the provincial tournament, which continues through until Friday in Calgary.

Two provincial champions have been confirmed already — Glace Bay, Nfld. as their representative and Regina Kiwanis as the Saskatchewan winner. Nationals begins Aug. 3 at McDonnell Field with three games daily for the opening week, all leading up to the Aug. 12 final where Team Canada will be crowned and sent packing to the Little League World Series.
