Six Medicine Hat ball hockey players are in Kitchener, Ont. today for nationals.

Under-19 players Derek Bejerke, Andrew Carmichael and Nathan Thokle, under-17 players Austin Klimosko and Wyatt Slobodin and under-15 player Ryoma Hernandez will all look to win titles in their respective divisions Sunday.

There’s more on the line than medals, however.

Scouts for national teams will be looking closely at this week’s games, with the world championships in St. John’s, Nfld. next July.

Carmichael played for Canada’s under-16 team in 2014 and their gold-medal winning under-18 team last year. He could be invited back for the under-20 team this time around.
