Pair of Rattlers soccer teams win at Red Deer tournament

Soccer team from Medicine Hat fared well at a tournament in Red Deer over the weekend.

The Rattlers Athletic Soccer Club under-14 girls side went 4-0 in the Tier 3 division of the tournament, closing with an 8-3 win over the Storm (location unknown) Sunday afternoon.

They beat the Renegades 7-1 and the Storm 7-5 in Saturday’s round robin, then shut out the MUSC Strykers 5-0 in Sunday’s semifinal.

It’s the third tournament win of the summer for the team, which will head to Lethbridge next month for provincials.

The Rattlers’ under-12 boys also won gold, going 3-0 including a final 2-0 win over Rangers Sunday. A second Hat team in the division went 0-4.

The under-12 Rattlers girls went 2-1 in their division, beating Lethbridge twice and losing to Storm to wind up second. The under-14 boys went 1-2, the under-17 boys went 2-1 to finish fifth.
