They’ve got a pitch, they’ve got trophies and the Medicine Hat Cricket Association has a champion following its second annual tournament held this past weekend.

Three teams — the Kerala Cobras, Gujrat Lions and Sher-e-Punjab — bowled and batted their way through four matches Saturday and Sunday at Southlands Park.

Sher-e-Punjab beat the Cobras late Sunday to repeat as champions, but it was the number of people who came out that was equally important for the association.

Another tournament will take place in September, though dates haven’t been finalized.
