Ammonia leak closes Kinplex Saturday

The Kinplex was closed on Saturday due to an ammonia leak.

The leak occurred overnight between Friday and Saturday, and the Medicine Hat Fire Department’s Hazardous Materials Response Team responded to assess the situation. The leak was isolated and repaired by Saturday morning. ,/p>

Due to the danger of inhaling ammonia, all activities scheduled at the two arenas were cancelled or rescheduled as crews cleaned and vented the facility.

The Medicine Hat Cubs game against the Stettler Lightning was cancelled and will be rescheduled for a later date.

The Medicine Hat Female Hockey Hounds game against the Edmonton Wolves was moved to the Hockey Hounds Rec Centre at 6:30 p.m.

It is expected regular activities will resume at the Kinplex on Sunday.
