DONNA RAE SYVERSON
DONNA RAE SYVERSON May 11, 1947 January 25, 2025 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Donna Rae Syverson on January 25, 2025, in Medicine Hat, Alberta at the age of 77 years. Donna was a mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, and friend whose kindness and warmth touched everyone who knew her. Donna was born on May 11, 1947, in Claresholm, Alberta. She spent much of her childhood living on the farm and getting into mischief with her brother and sister. She eventually settled in Redcliff and Medicine Hat, where she met her husband, Gary. Some of Donna’s best memories were when she and Gary lived in Tuscan, AZ, New Orleans, LA, and Mobile, AL. They enjoyed many adventures in the South, discovering new places and meeting new friends. Throughout her life, Donna has brought joy and laughter to all those around her. She never shied away from making new friends or chatting up a stranger. She was always the last to leave the party and would never turn down a glass of wine. Donna loved life. Her humour and personality were with her right to the end. Her kind spirit and warm smile will remain forever in our hearts. Donna is lovingly remembered by her two children, Shawn (Lyndsay) Syverson of Calgary, AB, and Dana (Colin) Telfer of Carp, ON. She was a proud and adoring grandmother to her grandchildren, Keanan, Blake, Ava, Kyla, and Colby, and her grand puppy, Jax, who brought immense joy to her life. Donna also leaves behind her beloved big brother, William (Bill) Peta, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews who were dear to her. Donna was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Gary Syverson; her mother, Gunda Peta, and her sister, Caroline Granlin. Donna’s legacy is one of love, kindness, and laughter. She will be greatly missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A Celebration of Life will take place in the summer. Condolences may be sent through

A hardworking and dedicated man, John’s warmth and kindness touched all who knew him. He was known for his humour, strong work ethic, his generous spirit, and ability to make those around him feel loved and valued.
The family would like to thank the incredible staff on Five West at the Medicine Hat hospital, especially Sean for his loving care; the rehabilitation staff on Two North for their unwavering hope to improve his strength and finally the unbelievable angels who work at St. Joseph’s Covenant Home. Their endless smiles and continued optimism carried him through the last stages of his heroic battle ending every day with “this was the best day ever” on his lips.
A family man at heart, John will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memories will live on through his family, his love for draft horses, and the many lives he touched.
