SCHULER, CLARK DOUGLAS June 14, 1973 July 27, 2024 It is with great sadness that the family of Clark Douglas Schuler announce his passing on Saturday, July 27, 2024. He is survived by his daughter Charley, his parents, Shirley and Stan Schuler; his sister Allyson (and her son Cole); as well as his brother Wade (and his wife Anita and children, Sydney and Nolan).
Clark grew up on a farm on the Alberta-Saskatchewan border. He attended school in Richmond, SK, and from a young age loved all sports, especially baseball, hockey, and volleyball. This love of sports led him to pursue a degree in Kinesiology at the University of Calgary and a passion for coaching baseball.
His life and career took him down many paths, where he touched the lives of many people. His easy smile, quick wit, and playful personality will be greatly missed by his close friends and family. To honour Clark’s wishes, no funeral services will be held. We invite you to please celebrate Clark’s life in your own way. We believe his legacy of kindness, laughter, and adventurous spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

WILFRED REHM 1931 ~ 2024 Mr. Wilfred Paul Rehm passed away in Medicine Hat on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the age of 92 years. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Grace; two sons, Kelvin (Kim) and their two sons, Quintin and Clayton; Rob (Denise) and their family: daughters, Brianne (Blythe), Abby (Connor) and their son, Jayke. Wilfred was raised on a farm in Southern Saskatchewan with his parents, grandparents and his siblings, Annie, Helen, Johanna, and John. “Willy”, as most people referred to him as, was a very hard working man in the oil patch for nearly forty years of his life. He had a great sense of humour that most people appreciated along with a bit of a mischievous side. Wilfred was a kind, caring, soft spoken man who easily won over the hearts of friends and family he spent time with. Wilfred will be sadly missed by those he got close to. He was not a man that enjoyed the spotlight, but rather he made sure that people around him were in his spotlight. Willy did not need a lot of fuss made about him as he enjoyed being at home and having the slow routine of life and family fill his days. Dignified cremation has taken place. Wilfred will be silently remembered by family and friends without the proceedings of a formal funeral service. BRYAN SCHICK
BRYAN SCHICK 1946 ~ 2024
“Love you to the moon and back” It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Bryan Alfred Schick who left us on Monday, August 12, 2024, at the age of 77 years. Bryan was a beloved member of the Melville, Saskatchewan community, where he was born and raised, before retiring to Medicine Hat.
A man of many passions, Bryan’s love for hockey was evident from an early age. He played Junior A for the Melville Millionaires, where he made lifelong friends and memories both on and off the ice. He even played senior hockey in Yorkton considering the heated rivalry between the two communities. His enthusiasm for the sport never waned as he later turned to coaching, sharing his knowledge and love for the game with his son, Darin and the younger generations. He was always a presence in the rink watching the Tigers and never missed his grandson, Quin’s games.
Bryan’s career with CN Rail spanned an impressive 37 years. He was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and the big personality he brought to the job every day. His colleagues and friends cherished his sense of humour, his ability to lift spirits with a joke or teasing, and his always-willing hand to help those in need.
Away from work, Bryan had a variety of interests that filled his days with joy. He had a green thumb and found peace and fulfillment in his yard, where his plants thrived under his care. Cars were another of his passions he especially enjoyed cruising car lots in his convertible, perhaps always on the lookout for his next ride. Bryan was also an avid card player, bringing the same competitive spirit he showed on the ice to the card table. As he loved animals, he had a real soft place in his heart for his most recent little doggies, Beezer and Crosby.
A lover of life’s simple pleasures, Bryan found happiness in grocery shopping and he’s likely up in Heaven scanning the flyers for the best possible deals! And when it came to relaxation, the bigger the TV, the better his love for sports and entertainment was always best enjoyed on the big screen.
Bryan’s larger-than-life personality made him unforgettable to those who knew him. He was a jokester, a friend, and a pillar of strength to many. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and a deep love for life that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many lives he touched throughout his journey. He had a good run!
Bryan will be remembered by his wife, Judy; son, Darin (Tracy) Schick and their children, Janae and Blake; daughter, Shawntelle Lacher and her son, Quin; siblings, Dennis (Norma) Schick, Georgina Schneider (Merv Gawryluik), Dick Dempster, Pat Guist and Donovan (Doris) Dempster as well as numerous nieces, nephews extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Violet Schick.
Bryan’s memory will be honoured in a private family graveside ceremony at Hillside Cemetery. BEATRICE ROSE ZUBOT
ZUBOT, BEATRICE ROSE Beatrice Rose Zubot, passed away at Shepherd’s Care Foundation in Edmonton at the age of 85 on August 13, 2024.
Beatrice was born in Fox Valley, Saskatchewan on October 12, 1938 to parents Cleo and Johanna (Bischoff) Grimm. Bea was the second youngest of 4 children; Josephine, Kenneth, Beatrice and Edward. Their family settled in Medicine Hat in 1951. Bea married Carl Zubot in 1955 and they settled in Barrhead in 1969. Their children from eldest to youngest: Darcy, Travis, Rodney (Desiree), Carla (Roger), Bryan (Donna), David (Nancy) and Dennis (Alanna). There are numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bea is predeceased by her husband Carl, her sons: Darcy and Travis, and her brother Kenneth.
Prayers and a Celebration of Life will be held at St. Anne’s Catholic Church at 5210-50th Street, Barrhead, AB on August 29th at 7:PM and August 30th at 11AM. Donations in memory of Beatrice gratefully accepted to St. Anne’s Parish or the Barrhead Continuing Care Centre Auxiliary.

SIMON SCHAFER 1930 – 2024 Simon Schafer of Medicine Hat, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at the age of 93 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his sister Lenora (Elroy) Horst of Medicine Hat; brother-in-law Archie Culbert of Regina; sister-in-law Katie Schafer of Medicine Hat and a dear friend Betty McCaig of Medicine Hat as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Wendlen and Margaret Schafer; three brothers, John Schafer, Michael Schafer and Leo Schafer; two sisters, Clementine Frederick and Rosemarie Culbert. Simon was born on a farm near Schuler where he farmed until he retired and moved to Medicine Hat. He bowled for a number of years but his greatest enjoyment was going for breakfast and coffee breaks at Humpty’s. As a pastime he loved to just drive around. Simon lived in his own home until his illness progressed. We would like to thank the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, St. Joseph’s Home and the Good Samaritan Society for their care of Simon. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so one hour prior to the prayer service. KARAN LOVE
KARAN LOVE 1948 – 2024
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Karan Love announce the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, and friend to all who knew her. Karan passed peacefully on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at the age of 75 years. She sustained a serious head injury after a fall on June 11, 2024, which she was unable to recover from.
Karan was born on September 3, 1948, in Moosomin, Saskatchewan to proud parents, Verona and Elmer King. She enjoyed her childhood years, growing up with her older brothers, Roger and Garry. The family moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta in 1956.
Karan graduated from Crescent Heights High School in 1966, being voted friendliest by her peers. She enjoyed all high school sports and activities, playing on the senior girls basketball and volleyball teams. Karan also loved golf and curling. She was a junior golf champion at the Medicine Hat Golf and Country Club. Karan represented Alberta in the 1975 Canada Lassies Curling Championships in Moncton, New Brunswick as a member of the Sharon Grigg Rink.
Following a number of jobs in insurance and banking, Karan had a long career as a library assistant with the Medicine Hat School Division (1987-2016). During this time, Karan enjoyed a number of friendships with students and teachers alike. Karan will always be remembered as such a fun, kind, and generous person with a great sense of humour and a wonderful smile. She loved the company of family and friends, playing cards (poker and bridge) and spending fun times in Okotoks with her grandchildren, Kapri and Kane.
She will be dearly missed by her son, Colin (Taryn) Love; her daughter, Dana (Steve) Kowalski; two grandchildren, Kapri and Kane; her brother, Garry King; sister-in-law, Phyllis King, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Elmer and Verona King and her brother, Roger King (April 23, 2024).
A celebration of life will be held at a later date and details will be announced at that time. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all of the medical staff at Calgary Foothills Hospital and the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital for their excellent care and compassion. The kindness of friends and relatives has been very supportive. A special thanks to Val Brade for her support and help.
