TYLER GECHTER

TYLER GECHTER 1984 – 2024
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Tyler William Gechter on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at the age of 40. Tyler was the beloved son of Cheryl and Stewart Poole and Mark Gechter (cherished partner Karen Beliveau). He is also survived by his sister Jessica (Kurtis) Fouquette and their sons, Carter and Mason; his step-sisters Alicia (Kyle) Downey and their chidlren Kinleigh and Drew; Kyla Poole; his grandmother MaryAnn Weigel and his former wife Ashley. He was predeceased by his grandparents Peter Weigel, Liz and Louie Gechter.
Born in Medicine Hat on May 5, 1984, Tyler spent his early years on the family farm in Manyberries and graduated from St. Michaels in Bow Island. Tyler cherished his time with his niece and nephews and wore the title of “Uncle” with pride. He was also affectionately known as Uncle Ty to many of the children who knew him. Tyler’s adventurous spirit led him to work on the rigs. He later moved to Whitelaw, Alberta. He was a dedicated heavy-duty and agricultural mechanic earning his Journeyman ticket from Fairview College. In search of new adventures Ty most recently joined a wildland firefighting crew, operating heavy equipment.
Tyler was not only a mechanical wizard but also a natural athlete, known for his love of snowboarding, fishing, camping, and riding his motorcycle; his beloved Zoey and many animals. His passion for gardening brought him joy and a sense of peace. Above all, Tyler had a huge, loving heart. He was caring and generous, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Tyler will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
A funeral service celebrating Tyler’s life will be held at St. Andrews United Church in Bow Island (139 – 2nd West) on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. The service will be live streamed. Please visit Tyler’s obituary page on our website for the link. On August 25, 2024, a reception will be held at the Whitelaw Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local charity of your choice in Tyler’s memory. To leave a message of condolence you may visit http://www.pattisonfuneralhome.com.
