WILFRED STUBER

WILFRED STUBER December 20, 1940 ~ April 7, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wilfred Stuber. He passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at the age of 83 years. Wilf was born on December 20, 1940, in the house he lived almost his whole life in at Bullshead Butte, Alberta. He was the middle child of three born to Andrew and Elisa Stuber. Wilf grew up a farmer and later took over the family farm. He worked side by side for many years with his dad. Wilf was a caring neighbor, always ready to give a helping hand when others were in need. He was a man of his word if he said he was going to do something you knew it would be done. Wilf loved to take care of the livestock and the wild animals that made the prairies home. In the springtime, he would go out and start to build a nest for the returning geese to his area. Wilf was an excellent gardener, sometimes he would even have two gardens on the go. One of his favorite things to grow were sunflowers. When the sunflowers bloomed, he would go out and watch the sunflowers opening to the morning sun. They always reminded him of a happy face. Wilf even named one of his grand nieces (Ashley) “Sunflower” as she reminded him of a happy sunflower. Wilf resided in Medicine Hat after making the difficult decision to move off the farm in 2012. He had 83 years of a very good life he lived life as he chose. The Prairies and Farming was his way of Life. Wilf is survived by his two sisters, Shirley (Leonard) of Brooks, AB., and Jean Jetter of Lethbridge, AB., as well as many nieces, nephews and a special friend he visited regularly to share stories and have a laugh with, Alisha Becker. Wilf was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Elisa Stuber as well as his brother-in-law John Jetter. To honour Wilf’s wishes, a small and private graveside service will take place at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery. KEITH SYVERSON It is with great sadness that the family of Keith Syverson of Calgary, Alberta announces his passing after a brief and courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 71 years on Tuesday, December 19 at his home.
Keith or “Turtle”, as he was known to family and many friends, will be forever remembered by his special friend Lillian Bollman; son Olek (Emily) Janusz; brother Lorne (Glenda) Syverson; sister-in-law Reva Syverson; brother-in-law Harold Niebergall. His special nephews and niece: Kevin (Michelle), Trevor, Jay Lee (Gail), Kim (Brad), Derek, Owen and their families.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Hazel Syverson; and siblings Wayne Syverson and Grace Niebergall.
Keith was born in Medicine Hat on Jan 24, 1952. He was raised on the mixed family farm at Vale, Alberta and graduated from Medicine Hat High School in 1970.
A celebration of life will take place on April 27, 2024 at the Royal Canadian Legion, 9202 Horton Rd SW, Calgary AB from 1-4pm. For additional information please contact Derek Syverson at dereksyv@gmail.com.

Laura Mae Johnson (nee Maillard), passed away peacefully on March 24th, 2024, at the age of 97 years. She was the cherished wife of Joseph McFadzen and beloved mother of Donna Johnson Alden and Janice Hehr and is predeceased by her sisters June Dutton and Jean (Sis) Buchholz. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Neil (Michelle) Alden, Mark Alden, Ryan (Sheri Koshman Hehr) Hehr, and Andrea (Hehr) Best (Craig Best). Laurie was a proud great grandmother to Olivia
Alden, Lilia and Laurel Koshman Hehr, and Boden and Bergen Best. Laurie was born and raised in Redcliff and enjoyed an office position with Dominion Glass prior to her marriage in 1947 to William (Bill) Johnson also of Redcliff. Within a short period of time, they were busy building a life together with their two daughters surrounded by family on both sides. During their contented life together they enjoyed bowling, darts, card games, dancing, curling and golf. She particularly enjoyed watching baseball while keeping score and calculating batting averages into her 90’s. As well, she will be remembered by her love of participating in singing activities and music. Countless holiday meals and Sunday dinners often included extended family and other guests. She was a superb baker producing varieties of breads and pastries which were gratefully consumed by all. Sadly, her life significantly changed with the passing of her dearly loved husband Bill in 1990. She forged ahead with her life in Redcliff which included spending time with her daughters and their families, her mother Aggie Maillard, extended family and wonderful friendships. She continued to enjoy golf, cards, and singing and found that casino bus trips could be a lot of fun with her friends. While participating within Redcliff social events she was reacquainted in 1998 with another longtime resident Joseph McFadzen. They happily married in 1999 surrounded by loving extended family from both sides. Within a few years they moved to Medicine Hat to begin the next chapter of their lives together. They continued to enjoy Redcliff activities and friendships, while forging new ones in Medicine Hat. Their marriage was one of love, contentment and mutual respect. Laurie and Joe were both deeply grateful to have met and enjoyed a partner so compatible at that stage of their lives. Unfortunately, her life changed again with her diagnosis of dementia in 2018. Within two years, filled with challenges for both of them, Laurie moved into care at Good Samaritan South Ridge Village where she continued to reside until her peaceful passing. Her family continues to be grateful for the exceptional care, compassion and understanding she received from the entire staff while in their care. GLORIA NEITZ 1959 – 2024 It is with heavy hearts that the family of Gloria Carol Neitz announce her peaceful passing on April 10, 2024 at the age of 64 years. Gloria is survived by her mother, Irene Neitz; sister, Brenda (Norman) Duchscherer; brother, Dean (Caroline) Neitz; sister, Sheryl (Rick) Ahner as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Ernest Neitz in 2019 and two great-great nephews, Gage Hawn in 2017 and Michael Hawn in 2023. Gloria’s life was based on her deep faith in God and Jesus as her Saviour. Family was very important to her and, in particular, her nieces and nephews. Each one held a special place in her heart. LYDIA THOME (WEBER) 1933 ~ 2024
Lydia was born August 22, 1933 in Drexlerhau (Province of Kremnitz) Czechoslovakia now known as Slovakia.
She passed away peacefully on April 9, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Village with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her husband Eugene on October 7, 2020. Lydia is survived by her children, Agnes (Morley) Anheliger, Andrew (Kathy) Thome, and Lore (Emil) Luca; five grandchildren, Cole Anheliger, Stephanie (Zac) Nicholson, Adam (Skylar) Thome, Janessa Thome (Chris Flood), and Jessica Luca; two great grandchildren, Alex Wilson-Thome and Sophie Thome; her brother, Andreas Weber in Germany as well as her sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews in Canada and Germany.
Lydia was the best Mother and Oma. She loved her family above everything. Gardening, baking, tending and growing her flowers and watching nature programs were some of her favourite things to do. She was a member of the church choir and C.W.L. for many years and prayer was an important part of her day. She enjoyed hosting friends and family whether it was for a meal, coffee and dessert or an evening of card playing. She was remembered by all for her special tortes and baked goods. Her recipes and techniques for making apple hand pies, strudels and knepfle were passed on to her daughters and granddaughters. Lydia was quick with a smile and warm and friendly to everyone she met. Her love of animals showed when her families visited with their fur babies and she made sure to have pet treats on hand for all of them. Her family would like to thank Dr. Jeraj and all the staff at Good Samaritans Village for taking care of Mom with such compassion, kindness and gentleness enabling her to keep her dignity. You are truly Angels on earth for doing the job you do each day.
