CURTIS WAYNE SCHAFER

CURTIS WAYNE SCHAFER 1970 – 2024
Peacefully passed from this life into the arms of Jesus in the early hours of March 22, 2024 surrounded by his family at his home in Kitchener at the age of 53.

Loving husband of Henrietta (née Just) for 26 years and 10 months. Devoted father of Justus and Samuel. Also survived by his parents, Wilfred Wayne and Trudy Schafer, his sister Tracey, and brother-in-law, Mark Just (Melony). Cherished uncle of Shelby Joyner (Kentrell), Matthew and Maddox Just. Remembered with a smile by extended family, friends, church family and co-workers. Predeceased by his grandparents Barbara & Alexander Schafer and Margery and Cyril “Dude” Barton, his parents-in-law, Gladys and Lawrence Just.


Visitation will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 322 East Ave., Kitchener on Wednesday, March 27th from 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, March 28th from 3-5 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday, March 30, 2024 from 10 until 10:45 a.m. with the funeral service to follow in the sanctuary at 11 a.m. A reception will be held in the Church Hall immediately following the service.

NESTER POLOWAY

1930 ~ NESTER POLOWAY ~ 2024
Nester Poloway of Medicine Hat passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Friday, March 22nd, 2024 at the age of 93 years. Nester leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 51 years, Ruth, sister, Hilaria, sisters-in-law, Marie, Jess (Abe), Olga, and Mary; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Mary Poloway; brothers, George (Evelyn), Julien, and Peter; sister, Gloria; and brother-in-law, Peter. Nester grew up, the oldest of six children, in Oakburn, Manitoba. He graduated from Normal School and taught for 17 years. In 1969, he left his teaching career and followed his passion for studying geology and metallurgy at Keewatin College. He met Ruth Dyck during this time and they were married on July 31, 1972. They moved to Wabowden, Manitoba where Nester worked at the Manibridge mine deposit for Falconbridge Mine. When the mine closed, he went on to study power engineering in Medicine Hat. They then moved to Fort McMurray in 1979 to work for the Regional Hospital. In retirement, in 1993, they moved to Medicine Hat. Nester and Ruth went on many road trips over the years sharing a hobby for rock hounding. They enjoyed nature and fishing together. Once Nester moved to Medicine Hat, he began his passion for gardening. He was a member of Hillcrest Church and enjoyed leading Bible Studies as well. He loved his Lord and Saviour and had full confidence that at the end of his life he would be in His presence. JOHN RING

JOHN RING 1963 – 2024
John Ring of Brooks, formerly of Medicine Hat, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at the age of 60 years. He is survived by his brother Jamie Ring (Amanda) and Tom Ring (his family Connie Davis, Destiny Bowie, Aiden Davis, Raymond Richie); his Uncle and Aunt Josh and Hilda Bierbach; Aunt Frances Ramberg; cousin Ida and her family as well as numerous other family and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents George and Gladys, his grandparents Emil and Martha Bierbach-Brown his Aunt and Uncle Judy and Wally Deckert. John was born on October 25, 1963 in Medicine Hat to George and Gladys (Bierbach) Ring. He was raised in Medicine Hat and attended Medicine Hat High School. Throughout his life he enjoyed many hobbies like diamond painting, movies, playing the lottery, woodworking and trains. He was a WHL stick boy for the out of town teams and enjoyed driving around visiting friends, enjoying a Pepsi as well as playing bingo at Top Hat Bingo. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, the Elks Club and the Gas City CB Club. During his working career he was employed at Craigs Weigh Station/Gas Bar, Klaudt’s Toyota, Deluxe Central Taxi and The City of Medicine Hat in the transit department. His family would like to thank Dr. Wong for his care and concern over many years. Also, thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Brooks Hospital – Long Term Care for the kindnesses shown to John. HENRY AMBROSI April 20th, 1953 March 22nd, 2024 The family is devastated to announce the passing of Henry at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital at the age of 70 years.
Left to cherish Henry’s memory is his spouse, Karen; son, Brad (Nicole) and their sons, Justis and Jarod; Karen’s daughter, Angela (Bob) and their children, Cassie, Bobbi and Robert; brother, John(Chris); Chris’ daughter, Kelly and her son, Dylan; John’s daughter, Lacey with daughters, Jazmin and Lily and John’s son, Scott.
Henry was predeceased by his parents, John and Elisabeth.
Henry was raised and worked in Medicine Hat. He was most proud of his years at OK Tire, running the muffler shop for over 10 years, as well as an owner/operator at Loomis Courier for 28 years where he enjoyed the camaraderie of his customers and co-workers.
He had special memories of his trips to Germany with family and especially loved his RV and his travels and camping excursions, particularly to Niagara Falls.
Henry will be dearly missed and will remain in our memories as a fun-loving guy who loved to laugh.
