DELILAH BECHTHOLD

DELILAH BECHTHOLD January 8, 1958 March 11, 2024 It is with profound sadness, the family of Delilah Bechthold announce her passing on March 11, 2024, at the age of 66 years. She is survived by her husband, Gene; sons, Gene Jr (Shellie), Brent (Shannon), and Marlon (Courteney); grandchildren, Finley, Dashel and Rio; parents, John and Ruth; brothers, Lorenzo (Shelly) and Avery (Jenine); and sister, Crystal (Ed).
Delilah was born on January 8, 1958, to John and Ruth Koback in Esterhazy, SK. She was raised in Williams Lake, BC and graduated high school in Lacombe, AB. She married Gene Bechthold on May 1, 1977, and they moved to Williams Lake, BC. Delilah loved to cook and bake for her family. Her grandkids and family meant the world to her.
A private graveside service will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024, in Beiseker, AB.

CLARENCE ROTH

CLARENCE ROTH 1933 -2024 Clarence Roth of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of Marlene Roth, passed away peacefully March 7, 2024, at the age of 91 years. Clarence was born in a small farmhouse near Irvine, to Henry and Olinda Roth. He was the eldest of six siblings and went to school in the Thelma district, up on “the Bench” where his parents ranched. He married Marlene Wirsch on August 31, 1962. Clarence continued to work on his parents’ ranch until they purchased their own farm west of Irvine. They welcomed two sons into their family, Garry and Dale. For over 30 years, Clarence farmed and drove a school bus for the Irvine School. In 1999, Clarence and Marlene sold the farm and moved into Medicine Hat. Clarence was a dedicated member of Southview Church of God, serving on various boards and committees, ushering, running sound, and any other area where he was needed. He was honoured with a plaque acknowledging his many years of service. He is survived by his loving wife Marlene, his children Garry Roth (Lois), and Dale Roth (Lisa), grandchildren Carbry, Brandon, Mackenzie, Tobi, and Rebecca, sister Jane Grubel, and brother Norman Roth (Marie), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and their families. He is predeceased by his parents, his parents in-law, sisters, Violet Tschritter (Edmond) and Rachel Wirsch (Roy) and brother, Melvin Roth (Darlene) and brothers-in-law Dixon Rath and Ralph Grubel. A Celebration of Life will be held at Southview Community Church (2366 Southview Dr SE) on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor James Mack and Pastor Andreas Striefler officiating. IRENE HODGES

1940 ~ IRENE HODGES ~ 2024
Irene Elizabeth Hodges of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Arthur Hodges, passed away on Monday, March 11th, 2024 at the age of 84 years. Irene leaves to cherish her memory her children, Darrell (Joanne) Hodges, Lisa (Gary) Goertzen and Tara Burton; grandchildren, Tyler (Sarai) Hodges, Chad (Lizzie) Hodges, Sacha Lactin (Adam Pope), Alyssa Lactin, Dustin (Shannon) Lactin, and Aaron Burton; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Frank Besplug; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Mary Besplug; husband of 43 years, Arthur; brothers, Alvin Besplug and Richard Besplug; and sister, Frances Heidrich. Irene was a long-time resident of Redcliff, AB and for over 30 years she worked at Domglas. She gave generously of her time and was a long-time member of the Redcliff Legion’s Ladies Auxilliary. She was also a well loved and avid member of her church. Irene enjoyed her life. She was a skilled seamstress and crocheter and in her leisure time she also enjoyed watching curling. She was a wonderful mother to her three children and she adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always there when her family needed her and she enjoyed spending as much time with them as she could. She was a strong loyal woman and will be fondly remembered and loved by all those who knew and loved her. Vigil Rites (Prayers) were held yesterday Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be held today at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 238 – 2nd Avenue NE, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 5Z9, at 1:00 pm with Fr. Vincent Tuan Ha, Celebrant. ALBERT ENGLER

ALBERT ENGLER July 25, 1942 ~ March 12, 2024
Mr. Albrecht ‘Albert’ Engler, beloved husband of 58 years to Carol, passed away peacefully in Medicine Hat with family by his side on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at the age of 81 years. Along with Carol, left to cherish Albert’s memory are their two children: son, Paul (Kerri) and their daughter, Molly; daughter, Marlane (Kellan) and her children, Lyrica, Saxyn and Lexus. He is also survived by four siblings, Dieter (Shirley), Hanna Smail, Walter (Marcia) and Kuni (Steve) Cox as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Albert was predeceased by a sister, Eva Medd and brother-in-law, Brian Smail. Albert was born during WWll in Kalisch, Poland. He worked in Germany for a period of time before immigrating to Canada in 1960. He settled in Medicine Hat where he started working as a welder for S.F. Scott Manufacturing. Albert transitioned from being a welder to an electrician in the early 1970’s, working at industrial construction throughout Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan. In the late 1990’s, he transitioned into electrical inspection and supervisory roles which he excelled at because of his meticulous nature. He was a proud member of the IBEW Local 424 for 45 years. Family wish to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Mastel and his staff as well as everyone at the Margery E. Yuill Cancer Centre for their excellent care over the years. Family also wish to thank the nurses and staff on 5 East at the Medicine Hat Hospital for their compassion in the days leading up to Albert’s passing. A celebration of Albert’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Monday, March 18, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Murray Jaster officiating. Private interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery with a time of fellowship thereafter in the Cook Southland Reception Facility. The Chapel Celebration of Albert’s life will be live streamed.
