MARY PETERS

MARY PETERS December 10, 1929 December 9, 2023 Mary Peters (nee Friesen), age 93, of Regina, SK, passed away on December 9, 2023, in Regina.
Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Friday, December 15, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Tim Friesen officiating. The service will be livestreamed. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Saskatoon.
Mary was born in Rosthern, SK to Maria (Unruh) Friesen and John Friesen on December 10, 1929. Mary’s mother passed away shortly after she was born, so Mary lived with her maternal grandmother (Maria Unruh) and aunts Margaret and Annie until her grandmother’s death when Mary was ten. Mary went to live with her aunt Margaret when she married John Voth and was raised with Peter and Menno on the farm near Hepburn, SK. When Mary left the farm, she moved to Saskatoon, where she worked at the Saskatoon City Hospital and then the Saskatoon School for the Deaf before marrying John Peters in 1962 and becoming a homemaker. Mary’s top priority was always ensuring that her family was very well taken care of, and when her children were old enough, she returned to work, doing various jobs. Mary and John retired to Medicine Hat, AB in the early 1990s and thrived there with a close circle of friends and a welcoming church. In 2014, Mary and John relocated to Regina to be closer to family.
Mary is survived by her husband, John; and children Wendy and Kelly. Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are many relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Maria Friesen and John Friesen.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the College Park II Retirement Residence staff for the care they afforded Mary over the last 9 plus years.
