LES SHILKA

LES SHILKA 1947 ~ 2023 Les Shilka passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Redcliff, AB, on Friday, November 17, 2023, at the age of 76. Les was born on February 8, 1947, in Elk Point, AB. He was married on June 28, 1969, to Ann (McLeod) Shilka. He was a young mechanic apprentice in Worsley, AB, when he was offered more money to go work on an oil rig. He moved with Ann to the Crowsnest Pass where he worked on oil rigs and coal mines. He started truck driving and moved to Coaldale, AB, then Champion AB. After retiring, Les and Ann would tour Western Canada during the summer and spend winters in Osoyoos, BC. He was a father, grandfather, uncle, brother, friend, and above all things, a husband. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, it was on point and meaningful to everyone. Les leaves to cherish his memory: son, Kenton Shilka and daughter, Gloria Shilka; granddaughters, Trinity Shilka and Shay-Ann and Tristen Rangen; brothers, Don Shilka, Louis Shilka, Blair Shilka and Ernie Shilka; sisters, Muriel Loos and Hazel Lubeck along with his numerous and loving relatives and friends. Along with his beloved wife Ann, Les was predeceased by his parents, Barry and Ellen Shilka; mother-in-law, Margaret McLeod and father-in-law, Rod McLeod. A celebration of life will occur in the summer of 2024, at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Les may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion in Redcliff, AB, or your local Legion. CONNIE ERMAN

CONNIE ERMAN, Connie Elaine Erman (nee Rehbein) of Regina, SK, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 20, 2023 at the age of 69 years. She was predeceased by her parents Gisella Rehbein (nee Glass) and Otto Rehbein; brother Garry; sister Donna and grandchild Quintin. Connie leaves behind her son Jeffrey (Sherri); daughters Bree (Trevor) and Kristine (Ian); five grandchildren Brooklynn, Theodore, Aubree, Charlotte and Sienna; nephews Jesse and Kody, niece Jayde; and many friends. Connie was born and raised in Medicine Hat, AB. After she married her husband Eugene, she eventually lived the majority of her life in Regina, SK and raised her family. She was trained as a respiratory therapist and loved her work in a variety of settings. Connie had a strong faith in God and served him in many ways in her church and community throughout her life. She was an avid reader and loved to cross stich. She liked to travel and spend time with her friends and family. In her last years of her life her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. The Memorial Service will be held at Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4001 East Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Nigel Prozenko officiating with a reception to follow. Interment will take place privately at a later date at Hillside Cemetery in Medicine Hat, AB. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Connie’s memory may be made to the World Vision Canada. SONYA CHARLTON

SONYA CHARLTON 1960 ~ 2023 It is with extremely heavy hearts that the family of Sonya Frances Charlton announce her unexpected passing in Medicine Hat on Monday November 6, 2023, at the age of 63 years. Along with Ted, her loving husband of 45 years, Sonya leaves to cherish her memory four children, Trevor and his daughter, Cassidy; Clayton (Crystal) and their children, Kali, Amy and Anna; Jolene and her son, Marshall; Stacey and her sons, Anthony and Hayden; siblings, Caroline (Rob), Rick (Janice) and Annita as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her mother, Claire. Sonya loved flowers and girly things including jewelry and anything that would make her feel pretty. In her younger years, she was a Majorette as well as a track star in school. Sonya was a darn good housewife who loved her family dearly. She will be missed. PETER BONOGOFSKI

PETER BONOGOFSKI 1926 ~ 2023 Peter Bonogofski of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of the late Barbara Bonogofski, passed away on Friday, November 17th, 2023 at the age of 97 years. Peter leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Betty Ann Bugg and Ann (Larry) Flaig; grandchildren, Justin (Jackie) Bugg and Jennifer Bugg (Jamie Arnold); great-grandchildren, Heston, Holden, Reese, and Linden; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Kurtz. Peter was predeceased by his wife, Barbara; parents, Zach and Emilia Bonogofski; daughter, Patty Bonogofski; son-in-law, Terry Bugg; brothers, Greg and Adam Bonogofski; and sister, Frances Bosch. Peter was born and raised in the Prelate, SK area. He received his education at Baden Farm School. Peter and Barbara were married in 1951 and they began their life together. In 1952, they moved to Leader, rural municipality of Happyland and lived there for 14 years. In 1967, they moved to Medicine Hat where Peter was employed with McCoy High School for 22 years, retiring in June of 1991. After retiring, he enjoyed woodworking and fishing and the company of family and friends. Peter received so much happiness from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also looked forward to his daily newspaper and doing his “find a word.” He and Barbara were longtime members of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Parish. Peter’s family would like to thank Good Samaritans for their excellent care of Peter.
