PATRICIA ANN MAMIE KADING

PATRICIA ANN MAMIE KADING August 24th, 1932 October 8th, 2023
Patricia Ann Mamie (nee McGowan) Kading passed away October 8th, 2023, at the age of 91 years. Pat was born August 24th, 1932, in Weyburn, SK, the second oldest child of Sargent and Muriel McGowan. In the summer of 1934, the family packed up their belongings and moved to homestead between Northside and Paddockwood, SK. She went to an one-room schoolhouse for her grade school years, then travelled to Paddockwood for high school. Then she went to Saskatoon to attend Normal School for one year to become a teacher. Pat taught in a one-room schoolhouse in northern Saskatchewan until 1955 when she moved to Cold Lake, AB to teach at the local school. At a Sadie Hawkins dance in February 1956, she met the love of her life, Mr. Bernard Kading. On July 8th, 1956, they were married in Prince Albert, with the following reception at the McGowan family farm. They had three children, Brenda in 1957, Terrance in 1962, and Lianne in 1967. Due to Ben’s work with the Federal Government, they moved around a lot (Cold Lake, Edmonton, Cambridge Bay, Wrigley, Stettler) before finally settling in Lethbridge. Pat was often called upon to teach in some of these locations, but in Lethbridge she chose to work for Sears. During their retirement years, they travelled extensively to visit family, friends, or simply for enjoyment (many provinces, Guatemala, Belize, Germany, United States, and a cruise through the Caribbean). They also loved camping through the summers with their trailer and later a motorhome. In 2016, Pat and Ben moved to Medicine Hat to reside in a retirement home (Meadowlands) and later moved together into a nursing home (Riverview).
She was predeceased by her parents (Sargent and Muriel McGowan); her husband, (Bernard Kading); her brother and sister-in-law (Sargent and Mary McGowan); her older sister (Merle McGowan); her younger sister and brother-in-law (Phyllis and Donald Kirychuk); a nephew (David McGowan); and her other sister-in-law (Beverly Kading). She is survived by her three children, Lianne Kading, Terrance Kading (Keely McKibben) and Brenda (Gordon) Aisman, who have two children and a grandson. The grandchildren are Richard Aisman, Ruth (Deric) Cole, with the great grandson, Everett Cole. She is also survived by her youngest sister, Ruth (Larry) Fawcett; brother-in-law, Ervine Kading; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations in Pat’s memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Condolences may be made at http://www.gracememorial.com. Arrangements have been made by
