MARY BUSCHOLL

MARY BUSCHOLL ~ January 15, 1934 – October 17, 2022 ~ With heavy hearts, the family of Mary Buscholl announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother. After a brief battle with ovarian cancer, Mary passed away at South Country Village, Haven House, with her loving family by her side on October 17, 2022, at the age of 88 years. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Audrey; sons, Ray (Cindy), Ron (Lydia), and Russel (Kim); daughter-in-law, Carol; eight grandchildren, Brayden, Jarrett, Tanya, Haley (Nate), Rianna (Karsten), Josh, Evan, Samantha (Braden); four great-grandchildren, Eric, Dirk, Peyton, Ava; brothers, Joe (Peggy), Ed (Irene), Mike (Anne); sister, Marlene (Ron) Duchscherer; sisters-in-law, Jeanette, Donna, Eleanore; and many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jim (2020); her parents, Mike and Barbara (nee Duchscherer) Weisgerber; sons, Joseph (at childbirth) and Roy (2016); brothers, Wilf, Vic and Bill. Mary was born January 15, 1934, in Prelate, Saskatchewan and grew up on the family farm near Sceptre, Saskatchewan. She received her education at Bell School. Mary married her childhood sweetheart, Jim Buscholl, October 28, 1952, and they made their home on the Buscholl family farm, only 1/2 a mile from where she grew up. Mary and Jim retired to Medicine Hat in 1993. Mary loved to cook for her growing family. Mary was a terrific cook, but she made the best noodles! There were rarely any leftovers so, needless to say, her “growing” family grew not only in numbers but also in pounds because we all loved her noodles. Whenever she had the urge to make her amazing Cream Noodles, it was all hands-on-deck, and the family would have a production line going, everyone with their job to do. We all have wonderful memories of good food, a great game of canasta, and lots of love and laughter shared around Mary’s kitchen table. Mary also enjoyed gardening, playing cards and socializing. Besides supporting Jim’s efforts on his many Boards, Mary was a long time CWL member, sang in the church choir for a time and always helped cook for many Fall Suppers and funeral lunches. It is with profound sadness that Willa and Walter Posnikoff announce Jo’s peaceful passing at the Good Samaritan Society in Medicine Hat on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at the age of 98 years. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Emil Schlenker on May 22, 2014. Jo was the second of five children born to Albert and Agnes Steele of Verlo, Saskatchewan. She was the last living sibling. Jo also leaves behind two sisters-in -law, Beatrice Steele and Darlene Steele as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family on the Steele and Schlenker sides of her family. Jo had many health issues over the years and bore her struggles with strength and dignity and when asked how she was doing she would always say, “I’m good” with a smile on her face. She never complained and would often comment, “I am tough, I am Irish!” And she was. Jo was a loving wife and mother. She took great care of us and these memories will be cherished forever. She loved her family and always engaged in their lives in anyway she could and was also a true friend to many. Jo and Emil were actively involved in the community for many years. They received the Platinum Award for community involvement in 1993. Some years later Mom was recognized for a Spirit Award by the City of Medicine Hat. They made many wonderful friends over the years. Of course, dancing was an integral part of their lives and they just loved to dance together! They enjoyed extensive travel to many places around the world and made frequent trips to Thornhill, Ontario to visit Willa and Walter. Thank you to Good Sam’s for their excellent care over the years as well as the many family members and friends who visited with Jo over that time. Also, our sincere gratitude goes out to Dr. Jeraj who cared for her for over 30 years. Her’s was a life well lived!! She is now dancing in Heaven with her dear Emil!! GAIL WRIGHT

GAIL L. WRIGHT May 4, 1939 ~ October 18, 2022
It is with fond memories and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandma, Gail Letitia Wright, at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at the age of 83 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Gary Jr. (Heather) and his daughter, Dana (Luke) and his step-sons, Daniel (Melanie and their family Brooklyn, Westen, Carver and Case), Adam, and Josh (Erin and their daughter Sarah); son, Todd (Betty) and their daughter, Montana; daughter, Vanessa (Pavol) and her two daughters, Katelyn and Brooke and her two step-sons, Juraj and Matus, as well as loving nieces, nephews, life-long friends and her best friend, Gail Frandsen. She was predeceased by her husband, Gary; her parents, Harold (Tag) and Beatrice Torkelson and her loving sister, Dolores Pahl.
In her early married years, she worked part-time at Hudson Bay in Calgary. After graduating from Garbutt Business College in 1963, she worked as a medical receptionist for Dr. A. Wilkie as well as in the family business, Wright’s Jewelry.
Between raising her three children, Gail was involved in many clubs and activities. She was Past President of Medicine Hat G&CC Ladies Golf and the Kinette Club. Gail canvassed for many organizations including Heart & Stroke, United Way, Flowers of Hope and Canadian Cancer Society. She had a knack for entertaining and was always a wonderful hostess to her friends and family, making sure everyone was well fed; her delicious Christmas dinner menu will be a lasting legacy.
Gail enjoyed sports and participated in many throughout her life: baseball, City Champ for High Jump in Grade 8, curling, figure skating, skiing and golfing to name a few, having a special love for horses and riding.
Gail had fond memories of many travels through the years with special friends and family: Whitefish, Palm Springs and Maui were among her favorite destinations and having a good view was of the utmost importance. Wherever she travelled with friends and family, rest assured there was also an abundant supply of chocolate, one of her favorite temptations. “Money can’t buy happiness, but it can buy chocolate, and that’s the same thing.” ~Anonymous.
A celebration of Gail’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Jeff Lackie officiating, with a time of visitation beginning one hour prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. The interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery with a time of fellowship thereafter in the Cook Southland Reception Facility.
