ARDIS ANN HAUPT

October 12, 1935 ~ September 6, 2022

Ardis Ann Haupt, beloved wife of the late Johnny Haupt, passed away at the Good Samaritan South Ridge Village in Medicine Hat on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at the age of 86 years. Ardis was born on October 12, 1935, in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan to Edith and Henry Borman. She was the youngest of four children and grew up on the family farm in the Skull Creek district. Ardis attended school in Skull Creek, Maple Creek and did some of her schooling through correspondence. Later on, she furthered her education in Calgary becoming a lab technician. She worked for a short time in Prince Albert and then in Medicine Hat until 1973. Ardis met her sweetheart, Johnny Haupt, at Beef Club Achievement Day and they were married in December 1957 at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Maple Creek, having their dance at Star Butte School. They lived at the Haupt farm in the Star Butte district for a short time and then moved to Medicine Hat where they bought a house on Ross Street. In 1961, they bought their farm near Seven Persons, on the open prairie with the creek running threw it. They worked very hard to establish this farm and Ardis took great pride in her home, yard and the many trees she planted. She always loved working in her yard. In 1967, they welcomed a son, Steven and in 1968, a daughter, Stephanie. Ardis was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother and was a talented seamstress, making quilts and clothing for her grandchildren; these things will be cherished forever. Ardis was kind, patient and gentle and her grandchildren loved to spend time with her. In 2013, with health issues looming, Ardis and Johnny moved to Medicine Hat and returned to the farm for two summers until they could no longer live there independently. Ardis was a resident of the Good Samaritan Village for the past five years and the staff there became like family. Ardis’ family will forever be grateful for the love and compassion they showed them. Ardis is survived by her children: son, Steve (Tracy) and their children Paige (Jayson) and Cody; daughter, Stephanie (Jim) and their children Tiffany, Samantha (Brandon) and their boys, Cole and Tyson as well as numerous nieces, nephews and special friends. She was predeceased by John in 2020, and the family takes comfort in knowing they are together again holding hands. ‘Rest peacefully mom, you will forever be in our hearts!’ A private family gathering will be held at a later date. GEORGE EDWIN MACAULEY

August 17, 1930 ~ September 13, 2022

George Edwin Macauley of Medicine Hat peacefully left this world in the early hours of Tuesday, September 13, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 69 years, Henriette Antoinette and his five children, Arnold (Darlene), Corinne Plamondon (Gilles), Marvin (Robin), Brian (Donna) and Julie Zwicker; nine grandchildren, Jan, Dawn (Arnold), Joshua, Kalen (Corinne), Erika, Kyle (Marv), Jael (Brian) Lauren and Hailey (Julie and Bill Zwicker) and ten great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Mary Evelyn as well as his siblings Wilf, Joyce and Kenny. George was very active in his children’s lives. He encouraged them to be the best that they could be and to pursue their own dreams. He was known to everyone as a witty, loving, kind man who was always willing to help anyone in need. He was also very active in the community, belonging to the Knights of Columbus, RC Legion, Order of Railroad Telegraphers and the CPR Pensioners Club. George was born on the family farm north of Mankota, SK., on August 17, 1930. Growing up in southern Saskatchewan in the 1930’s, he learned how to farm and survive in very difficult conditions. During the war, George and his older brother, Wilf kept the farm working while their father, Alfred served in the Army. In 1949, George began working with the CPR as a part-time telegrapher. In 1950, the Macauley family moved to Val Marie, SK., where both George and his dad worked for the PFRA at the Val Marie Dam. In the same year, he met the love of his life, Henriette Lebel at a wedding reception and they were married on August 17, 1953. George worked for the CPR as a Telegrapher, Station Agent, Operator and Dispatcher from 1949-1986, living in many communities in Alberta and Saskatchewan. He loved the railroad. After his retirement in 1986, and finally empty nesters, George and Henriette travelled Canada eventually hitting every province and territory with their truck and trailer. They also travelled to Europe and Mexico many times and did several cruises to Alaska and the Panama Canal. George’s life was full with lots of love and many wonderful memories with family and friends he met along the way. George’s family is very grateful for all the healthcare workers who contributed to his care over the past five years. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 238 – 2 Avenue N.E., Medicine Hat, on Monday, September 19, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Father Roque Pereira celebrant. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery with a time of fellowship thereafter in the Parish Hall. March 5, 1964 ~ September 11, 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of Troy Darren Koenig, announce his sudden passing in Medicine Hat on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at the age of 58 years. Troy will be deeply missed by his parents, Vern and Evelyn Koenig; brothers, Rick of Cochrane and Trent of Medicine Hat as well as his two loving children, Aaron of Brandon, MB., and Ashley of Edmonton. He was predeceased by his grandparents, John and Nathalia ‘Dolly’ Koenig and Michael and Pauline Rath. Troy was born and raised in Medicine Hat. In his early years, he enjoyed family trips to Yellowstone and Jasper as well as numerous trips to Vancouver Island and Disneyland. Troy also enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing and playing pool with friends and family. He had a sense of humour, loved to joke and was known in town as a reputable painter “The Best Painter Around’ (Those are his own words). “May your pain finally be gone; we will miss you. Rest in peace!” A private family service will be held at a later date.
